Advanced brain support

Hyperthermia is a frequent complication (>50%) in patients with brain injury, such as acute ischemic stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, and intracerebral hemorrhage, and is related to secondary brain lesions, increased morbidity and mortality. Targeted Temperature Management (TTM) aims to regulate and control body temperature to maintain total body temperature and, consequently, brain temperature at specific values. On average, there is a difference of approximately 1.5°C between total body and brain temperature. Therefore, if the objective is to induce hypothermia of the brain area, the strategy through traditional systems is to significantly cool the total body, although this may result in important side effects.
