TECHNICAL FORUM
Sunday, November 15
Technical forum corner from 11:30-12:30
MINI-INVASIVE EXTRACORPOREAL CO2 REMOVAL: FROM THEORY TO PRACTICE
Professor LUCIANO GATTINONI, University of Göttingen, Germany
Professor MARCO MAGGIORINI, University of Zurich, Switzerland
The purpose of this Technical Forum is to analyze the potential for clinical use of extracorporeal minimally invasive CO2 removal (LF-ECCO2-R). Starting from the concepts of respiratory pathophysiology to the analysis of the rationale and potentiality that a minimally invasive extracorporeal CO2 removal system can offer to the clinician in the management of a patient’s ventilatory support in order to preserve the best ventilatory setting and preventing the damage induced by the ventilator (VILI) under certain clinical conditions.
